When I Opened The Door of Feelings: A Poetry Writing Professional Development for Teachers

We will share our glimmers, the things that calm and delight us, to create performance poetry. We will create 2-word poems and see how adjectives and concrete nouns will be the building blocks for unique poetry. Through movement, we will find poetry in our bodies and create a brave space where students can perform their work with an emphasis on vocal phrasing and physical gestures and pauses to communicate our images from our powerful and playful places. This professional development is open to teachers of all grades as the exercises can be adapted for all levels from pre-K to high school.
