Through a contract with the National VSA program of the the John F. Kennedy for the Performing Arts and the generosity of donors, we provide NO COST accessibility and inclusion arts programs across the community.
ARTS FOR ALL
Through Two Signature Programs, Performing Arts Access for All and Building Bridges in the School and Community we assure arts learning is available to anyone!
Performing Arts Access for All: Through Partnerships with Schools and Classrooms serving students with disabilities, the Van Wezel provides NO COST access to students including
- Our signature Pre-Show Drama Workshop “Going to the Van Wezel”
- FREE Attendance at a Fully Accessible Schooltime Performance
- Follow-Up Arts Activities with teaching artists
Building Bridges in the School and Community: An inclusion project partnering two classrooms (one serving primarily students with disabilities, and one primarily typically developing students) for an arts residency around a Schooltime Performance. Students learn about each other, their schools, and their community through:
- Getting to know you workshops
- Joint attendance at a performance
An Arts Residency where students create and celebrate art together
